Build my personalised plan →Day 1 — Arrival & Shinjuku
Arrive at Narita (NRT) or Haneda (HND). Take the Narita Express or Airport Limousine Bus to your hotel in Shinjuku. Check in and recover from the flight.
Walk through Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden — especially spectacular during cherry blossom season. Alternatively explore Kabukicho, Tokyo's vibrant entertainment district.
Explore the tiny bars of Golden Gai for a drink. Dinner at one of the ramen specialists along Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) — tiny grills, yakitori skewers and cold beer.
Day 2 — Shibuya & Harajuku
Start at Meiji Jingu Shrine for a peaceful morning surrounded by forested grounds. Walk through Harajuku's Takeshita Street for street fashion, crepes and Harajuku culture.
Stroll down Omotesando for high-end architecture and shopping. Head to Shibuya Crossing — best viewed from the Starbucks terrace or Mag's Park above the scramble.
Dinner in Shibuya. End the evening at Shibuya Sky observation deck for panoramic city views — pre-book sunset slots online.
Day 3 — Asakusa & Ueno
Visit Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa — Tokyo's oldest and most iconic Buddhist temple. Walk Nakamise shopping street for traditional snacks and souvenirs.
Head to Ueno Park and choose from the Tokyo National Museum, Ueno Zoo or simply enjoy the park. Finish in Akihabara for electronics, retro games and anime culture.
Try yakitori in an izakaya near Yurakucho station, or explore a department store basement food hall (depachika) for world-class dinner options.
Day 4 — teamLab & Odaiba
Book teamLab Planets in Toyosu in advance — a full-body digital art experience taking 1.5 to 2 hours. Morning slots are significantly less crowded than afternoons.
Take the Yurikamome monorail to Odaiba. Visit DiverCity for the life-size Gundam statue, then explore the waterfront area and Rainbow Bridge views.
Sunset over Tokyo Bay from Odaiba. Dinner at one of the restaurants overlooking the harbour and the Rainbow Bridge illuminated at night.
Day 5 — Ginza & Departure
Walk through the Imperial Palace East Gardens (free entry, opens at 9am). Cross into Ginza for high-end shopping or window browsing along the main boulevard.
Visit Ramen Street inside Tokyo Station or pick up gifts at KITTE mall. Tokyo Station is one of Japan's best spots for beautifully packaged regional food souvenirs.
Head to the airport. Narita Express from Tokyo Station takes around 60 minutes to Narita Airport. Allow at least 3 hours before international departure.
